Something We’re Thankful For

As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, we’re all thinking about filling our bellies with delicious food, spending time with people we love and reflecting on the things we’re thankful for.  Here at Reruns, we have hundreds of things to be thankful for, one of which is fashion. This may seem unimportant in the company of friends, family, shelter, food and water, but fashion has done a lot for us here at the store.

First of all, fashion is the reason Reruns even exists. Twenty-six years ago, it was Nanci’s love of fashion that inspired her to open the best consignment store in Knoxville.   We’re all thankful for that, right?!

Secondly, a love of fashion has brought many great, talented, smart, beautiful women together over the past twenty-six years.  It has been the source of many great friendships within the store staff. The bond between all of us currently here at the store is something that each and every one of us is thankful for. With a small staff, we have the amazing advantage of being able to have close, real relationships with our coworkers.  We do not walk into an office building full of faces that are only vaguely familiar, we walk into a warm environment greeted with a genuine hello and more often than not a big ole hug.  Over the past year, we’ve had so many great moments together it’s hard to pick a favorite; however, we managed to dig up a few snapshots.

Aside from relationships within the staff, we’ve also formed some really amazing relationships with our consignors and customers.  It’s more than just shopping, it’s a friendship or a bond based around a common love for fashion and the urge to lift up and enourage each other.  Reminding people they are beautiful, unique and talented is one of the things we enjoy most at Reruns; whether it results in lasting relationships or a short, candid encounter, a love for fashion brings great women together!

We’re also extremely thankful for the idea of “local fashion.”  Our small store is unique in that it offers designer and brand name clothing that is affordable and actually contributes to our local economy, not big businesses.  We’re thankful for recycling clothing, local jobs, the ethics of small business, and the sense of community all that brings along with it.  While we’re definitely thankful for the flawless beauty some designer clothing offers, we’re more thankful for well made clothing that enhances women and makes them feel beautiful.  After all, life isn’t about how much stuff we have, but how good we feel about the life we’re living and the way we feel about ourselves.  Fashion is also about more than looking good; it is an artform that connects men and women from all over the world.  All in all, whether it be fashion, music or your dog Bingo, be thankful for what you love, and love what you’re thankful for.

Happy holidays from the Reruns staff!

Show that you’re thankful for fashion and our local community this holiday season and shop, eat, drink, and buy local!
